Straight outta the bestial War/Black Metal gutter spews another bile curdling platter by Toronto’s unfinest
batch of underground scumbags, Nuclearhammer. I admit to generally being a sucker for the more chaotic
and barbaric Metal styles and this release is no exception. Continuing with the Blackened War Metal niche the
band has carved out since the Tyrants of Cruelty demo albeit less chaotic now and making a whole lot more
sense. The production is overall a low tuned, fuzzed out affair, which suits the music at hand quite well. I
would say they are actually at their best while slowing the pace down from the high speed blasting and
letting the heaviness and catchiness of some of the riffing shine through. Everything seems to get lost when
they switch it over to the relentless (and all too typical) hyper blasting segments and all the momentum that
was built up throughout the song goes to shit. Fast. What they are doing is good and they do possess an
oppressive aura when they are at their best. If they tone down the monotonous blasting they could really
make some noise but as it stands, this is still a good release and will be sure to please those who worship the
more bestial side of the metal spectrum.
