NHR Records is pleased to announce the almighty Hot Graves of Florida and their debut chunk of
plastic blasphemy! With an utterly brutal amalgamation of Hellhammer-smashed grimness, d-beaten
thrash-crustiness, blackened croaks of the highest order, and a punk-as-fuck attitude - what's not to
worship? As the band themselves proclaim: "IS YOU READY?"

LET’S GET READY TO RUMBLE! Unholy hell, what do we have here? An ultra sick album, or the
soundtrack to the Apocalypse? I know what it is, it’s the new HOT GRAVES album, Knights In White
Phosphorus, out now via NHR Records. These Florida metal/punk wizards transform each track into
their own world of demonic speed bliss. HOT GRAVES’ songs will get you so hyped, you would be down
to give the Pope an uppercut to the gut, or better yet, unplug all of those Televangelvision
hypocrites. This band’s music is just flat out fucking awesome because of the unseen hand of rage
and fury that pushes every composition to the edge of sanity! HOT GRAVES are really a perfect
combination of thrash metal and punk – they have the sound that many of the crossover bands from
the mid 80′s could never achieve. Bloody rivers of Dis-Beat flow into metallic oceans, where the
slayers of the underworld sail to set their warlords free. You will find riffs on Knights In White
Phosphorus that will make say, DAMN these motherfuckers are the shit! Then once you hear the
sound of their murder drums kicking in your skull, you will know you better not fuck with these dudes,
because they have come for world damnation. Lyrically, they are on point for the whole album, but it’s
the nuclear vocal delivery that will keep you excited from the beginning to the end. So here is a test:
play their song “Dirthrash” at full blast, and see if your house won’t start shaking in metal glory. What
I dig about HOT GRAVES is that they know who their fans are and what they want, so that’s what the
fuck they give, non-stop. This is not music to sip wine to, songs like “Blood Eruption” or “Total War”
are meant for whiskey-swigging, beer-drinking, pot-smoking dirt bags to kick back to. This band has an
ultra strong sound and identity that will not change with the wind; HOT GRAVES are alive, dancing
with the devil, so wake up fuckers and listen to Knights In White Phosphorus NOW!

What happens when you take elements from death metal masters like Entombed and Dismember, then
mix that with the sheer aggression of a thrash influenced crust band? Absolute D-Beat madness is
what happens, and when the madness has ceased, Hot Graves will be there to make it happen all
over again. “Knights in White Phosphorous,” the amazing debut album, should have no problem
whatsoever in rocketing Hot Graves to the top of the metalpunk underground.
So, what can you expect with this release? You can expect to have your eardrums ruptured, your
skull splintered, and to have a severe case of whiplash. Despite the generic and cheesy song titles,
Hot Graves are more than capable of destroying any venue they come across. The riffs are hard-
hitting and catchy, the vocals are crushing, the leads are great and everything just meshes together
perfectly.
The biggest highlight of this album though, is the absolute intensity of the record. Nearly every song
will awaken the listener’s inner savage due to the undeniable explosiveness of the music. Songs like
“Fully Charged” and “I Claim Your Blood (In the Night)” are heavy, fast and brutal. Basically, to sum
up the sound, this band is the equivalent of Bastard Priest and Morbid Saint’s lovechild. It’s that damn
intense.
But, Hot Graves is far from a one trick pony. They can do dark and eerie just as well as they do
intense and destructive. The track “Rotted” reeks of Swedeath influence. The fast tremolo picking and
melody gives the song a sinister feel to it while simultaneously forcing the listener’s head to bang.
Another example of Hot Graves’ varied songwriting ability can be found on the four minute, doom-
laden instrumental “Dirge ov the Apokalyptik Hordes ov the Toxik Damned.” An extremely doom
influenced riff that plays background to solos throughout, is exactly the kind track that this one is,
and it serves as a nice break from the unrelenting crust assault.
If you’re a fan of crust, death metal or thrash, then you should easily enjoy “Knights in White
Phosphorous.” the best tracks are definitely “Fully Charged,” “I Claim Your Blood,” and “Get Killed
Tonight.”

One-hundred percent pure nihilistic rage and gritty filth can’t be bought at the goddamn dollar store.
Sure, I know, any band under the sun can throw words like “crushing”, “killer” or Satan forbid, the all-
too-cliché “br00tal” that is ground into the dirt by countless youngsters these days. But any self-
respecting follower of the sincere, legitimate and unimaginably devastating shit knows how to tell a
faker in disguise. Far too many bands today are just going through the motions, just so they can draw
those impressionable kids in, like so many complacent sheep to the poser slaughter. I’m talking about
the massive amount of color-by-numbers halfwits that defecate record after record, completely void
of any substance or (gasp!) true, furious power and emotion. That type of band can be found
anywhere you look. The supply is unfortunately endless. It’s like some asshole grabbed their trusty
monkey wrench and opened the corroded floodgate of shit bands full-bore. And sadly, the number of
complacent casualties from the resulting flood is catastrophic. Yes, boys and girls, chances are great
that you know at least one victim of this atrocity! Thankfully, there are those who willingly accept the
honorable duty of cleaning up what we all know as the world of extreme music…those unholy janitors
from Hell that will mop the floor up with the battered remnants of a substance-lacking clone’s rock star
delusions. And, here we have the latest crusty, blister-fingered crew ready and willing to cleanse the
fucking halls free of the weak, those hell-raising demoniacs, from Gainesville, Florida…Hot Graves.
Formed in late 2007 (and originally intended as a side-project featuring members of Secrets She Kept,
By The Horns, and Thee Kvlt ov Ouroboros), the band combines Hellhammer-style harshness with
barbed elements of thrash, death and doom punishment for the eardrum. Emphatically praised by
Darkthrone’s Fenriz, Hot Graves masterfully harness the hellish spirits of the likes of Celtic Frost,
Venom, and Amebix and inject their own personal dose of d-beat infused darkness and misanthropy,
in turn creating a rabid behemoth so generally fucked-up that the weak-at-heart will have gloriously
troubling nightmares for eternity.
Their new assault on humanity, Knights in White Phosphorus (NHR Records), was produced and mixed
in collaboration with Carson Cox, while James Murphy (Death, Aborted) mastered the whole massacre
at his very own Safehouse Productions studio. Fresh on the trail of the Desecration Time seven-inch
and comprised of fifteen tracks, the majority of which barely clear two minutes, the record is
essentially a lightning-paced swan dive into hellish, thrashing chaos. There is no distinguishing the
good from bad on this one, as it’s all some seriously lethal stuff. “Worship the Goat”, “Kill for Satan”,
and the death-inviting “Get Killed Tonight” are all shining gems, glistening with the steaming blood of
the fallen. The instrumental “Dirge ov the Apocalyptik Hordes ov the Toxik Damned”, being the only
real intermission from break-neck pacing, takes on a decidedly more doom-aligned approach and is the
second longest ritual found here, next to kill-them-fucking-all album closer, “Desecration Time”.
So, all that being said, if you pass this up for some floor-punching, circle-pit, frat boy wannabe
“metalhead” crap, you’re a fool, plain and simple. This band is truly onto something, and that would be
destroying what you thought was some “heavy” shit. The only halfway noticeable downside is that it’ll
probably require most listeners (assuming you’re fond of the Hot Graves sound, and I see no reason
whatsoever why you shouldn’t be) to put this beast on repeat more than a few times before the idea
of just how infernal this thing is truly sinks in. Only then will one appreciate honest annihilation. Official
Forbidden Magazine memo to the unaware: Hot Graves are here to clean house!

Let me start off by saying that this is simply an phenomenal album full of seething aggression!
What I think I dig most about this album is Hot Graves' full-on "in yer face" style; I mean, I am hearing
everything from crust punk, thrash, hardcore, doom / black metal rolled up into a volatile mixture of
expressive purity.
This album is not for the weak, it drives harder and harder with each successive track; exploding from
"Dirthrash" and leaving you gasping for air with the last note of the final song "Desecration Time" and
tracks like "Blood Eruption", "Rotted" and "F.O.A.D." run the gamut of what these dudes have to
offer, they are throwing everything they got at ya at once; blazingly fast and without mercy.
The intricacy of their playing is nothing short of astounding, there is no repetitiveness and each song
masterfully throws you a curve. You see, this is where, dare I say, their genius becomes apparent;
where some bands might want to change things up midway through a track only to end up choking by
utterly missing the timing...Hot Graves doesn't. The ability to flow from hypersonic d-beat psychosis
onto solid metal precision, then into a growling, doom-like tempo and back again with perfect accuracy
has left me here sitting in my chair stunned with my jaw agape.
There are quite a few bands that I've listened to this year who try to play a similar style but just come
across as ridiculous b.s. without musicianship of any sort; Hot Graves brings forth an authenticity and
talent which cannot, nor will not be, denied!
All in all this whole album will leave you laid out on the floor as if you've just been punched by the
brass knuckles of its sheer ferociousness. And in this gig, that's a good thing!
Hell, if you don't believe me, have a listen to it now!

Gotta love that title! Hot Graves made some waves recently with a very well received 7” single, a
caustic debut that threatened to start its own subgenre of metallic hardcore performed by a bunch of
guys who spent an inordinate amount of time listening to old Sodom and Hellhammer EPs while growing
up in the fetid swamps of the Everglades.
You’d expect that same sort style to solidify on Knights In White Phosphorus, their full-length debut.
Not quite. Hot Graves move a bit away from their metallic hardcore roots, as it were, and inject some
serious groove into their assault with plenty of catchy riffs with a sound so thick it has all the hallmarks
of a collapsing building. There’s still a decided hardcore influence, mostly felt through a reliance on the
now infamous d-beat whenever the pace picks up, but Hot Graves lean much more heavily on the
metallic side of the spectrum. Did I mention that this sucker is as heavy as a two ton weight?
