ABOUT US
NHR Records (or Northern Horde Records) was founded in 2004 by three long time friends and musicians for the initial sole purpose of releasing extremely underground Canadian Black Metal. The early years saw the release of many underground cassettes solely dedicated to the cause of aiding Canadian (and the rest of the world later on) Black Metal bands to get their music heard. The year of 2006 brought about the first changes in NHR's releasing formats and styles. This was the year in which Compact discs were first introduced into the NHR catalogue and this year also saw the inclusion of Death Metal bands on the roster. It also was the year with which Northern Horde Records was cut back to NHR and a new found professionalism and dedication to releasing top notch material came to pass. Our first releases on the new NHR label saw the re-release of two cult Canadian releases in the form of the Wurm/Grim Winter "Suicide Pact" split CD and also the release of the Northern Black Metal Compilation. Both releases were well received by the underground metal community and further showed NHR's dedication to exposing home grown Black Metal artists to the world.

In 2007 a new level had been established. The early spring saw the release of the extremely limited and first dig i-pack release for the label in Geimhre's "Hinterland Suthainn" release and also the first international CD release in the blistering "Zealot" expanded CD from Ireland's ever-brutal Primal Dawn. This brings us to 2008, which will be ambitious and impressive to say the least. First in February NHR released the long overdue new full length from Geimhre entitled "Noidagh" which features the first professionally recorded music from the band in over 2 years. Those familiar with their back catalogue will not be disappointed!! To be released in July will be the classic and long out of print 1990 debut “Within Suffering” CD and the 1989 “Bodily Domination” demo from Toronto's criminally underrated Death Thrash masters, Overthrow. Along with bonus material and an extensive look back on the 20 years since Overthrows inception to say this release will be mandatory is clearly unnecessary. Next up in August will be the impressive debut CD from Canada’s King entitled “Sufferance Obsolescent”. King have filled this release with some of the most atmospheric, miserable and bitter Black Metal to be heard from Canada in some time. This release will stand as one of the best debut CDs of the Northern Black Metal scene. Due by the beginning of September will see the release of another debut through NHR by the merciless, rotten to the core Black Metal outfit Snowfall, entitled “Delirium Tremens”. You can expect nothing but raw alcohol and drug fuelled Black Metal on this release.

As for the rest of 2008, you will see as there are many great things planned! NHR shall grow and continue providing the underground metal world with bands that deserve to be heard and now will be.

Providing The Underground a Voice since 2004. NHR Records.

As for our releases and distro, the members of NHR do not endorse,
comdemn, or select music based on beliefs, politics, or religeous views. We
base everything on the music itself and stand by our decisions to release
and distribute material from bands that produce amazing music, that us, as
fans of underground metal, would want to purchase and listen to. Thanks for
your support.
